Welcome to the Molly The Owl educational resources page! We are thrilled that children everywhere are learning about and sharing in the adventures of Molly, McGee, and the owlets. We hope you will find the accompanying curriculum guides and downloads useful as resources for your teaching. You are welcome to use the materials either verbatim or as a starting point for your own lesson plans.
You will find curriculum guides for three grade level chunks—Kindergarten through Grade 2, Grades 3-5, and Grades 6-8 (coming soon). Language Arts teachers will notice they are organized in Before Reading (Into), During Reading (Through), and Beyond Reading (Beyond) activities. Science teachers will be able to adapt them into the Learning Cycle model or any other style of teaching they use. All activities are aligned to the California State Content Standards in order to meet the requirements of many schools and districts.
Because we know that good teaching builds on and grows from collaboration and sharing, we would like to invite you to contribute your own ideas for using Molly The Owl in your classroom. Please send your ideas to learn@mollytheowlbooks.com and check the Community Bulletin Board frequently to find your contribution and read about other exciting ways that Molly The Owl is being used in classrooms.
You can also find FAQs about Molly’s Box on wordpress.com and Carlos’s live chats with students on UStream Archives. Those questions and Carlos’s answers offer rich teaching opportunities.
Thanks again for being a part of the Molly experience. We look forward to hearing about your experiences in the classroom, and don’t forget to be on the lookout for the first installment of The Owls’ Realm, coming in 2011.
